I don’t know what it is, but lately I’ve been taking the time to learn new things like crazy. Maybe it’s just another way to keep myself occupied with stuff since we’ve moved away from family and friends. Maybe it’s because the kids are both at a place where I feel I can put some extra energy toward some fun projects? Who knows, but I’m excited and thankful for it whatever the reason.
For example…my blog relaunch. Well, it’s still in the process of being finished up. I hired a graphic designer who did an amazing job creating my new blog banner and some buttons, but I realized to achieve the entire look I want, I’ll have to create it myself. I took photoshop head on and really enjoyed creating my own design! Not only was I able to customize it to my liking, but I can really take ownership of my blog design when it’s done.
When my hubs gave me my beloved 50mm 1.4, it lit a fire under me. I cracked open the manual for my camera and learned how to use it on manual mode. It’s a little confusing, but I’ve been slowly making steps towards creating photos that I love. I always appreciate lifestyle blogs with gorgeous photos and not just iphone photos. (iphone photos are cool, but I like to change it up)
With my lens and photoshop I also learned how to play around in Lightroom to take my pictures to the next level. It gave me such a shot of inspiration seeing my photos all of a sudden get transformed. It’s amazing. I’m loving all these exciting changes and new skills I’m learning. I love being a mommy. It’s always what I’ve wanted and I cherish my everyday with my kids, but I also enjoy some “me” time though to keep my creative juices flowing. Creativity can dry up if not attended so I like having this alone time to express myself.
On a side note for those who know me on a personal level, I’ve revisited my lindy hop roots. Another positive thing about starting over up here is meeting new lindy hop friends. Dancing is a great way to meet new people and such a fun community. Us moving up here has kind of rekindled my love for dancing. I find myself thinking about dancing throughout my day which is something I haven’t done probably since high school and early college. It’s been neat.
