Bloggers, at what number of comments do you not bother leaving a comment on someone else’s blog? I mean seriously I see some of my favorite blogs and if it’s been over a day old post, sometimes they have OVER 300 comments!!! I’d like to leave a comment, but I can almost guarantee they aren’t reading it. It’s awesome for them that so many people are interested, but it gives me no motivation to leave a comment especially if I have to go through a word verification. Honestly if they have more than 20-ish I tend to not comment. Maybe that’s kind of selfish as a blogger, but if I know there is a very small chance they’ll read my comment, then it’s not worth it to me. Any thoughts?

I think that too. I still comment just to get it ‘off my chest’. It’s hard to comment when the post is just published, because of the time difference. Then some Bloggers post a minimum two posts a day and it’s hard to keep up.

I totally agree. I just want to get it off my chest. Especially if the post is interesting, but at the same time I’d like to think they read it.

  2. Hey girl! I always read each and every comment and if you have your email attached then I reply back privately. I I think when you stop reading you stop caring about your readers and it will show in your posts. Xo :)

Hi Lindsay! I approve all my comments which is why it didn’t show up until now. That’s awesome you read all your comments. Especially since so many people love your blog ;)

I know exactly what you mean! I read all of my comments, and I try to reply to them all too. I honestly can’t imagine getting over 300 comments and actually being able to read them all.

That is a tough one…I guess what I usually do is if the post is really something that spoke to me,then I’ll add my two cents worth. If not, then i tend to keep it to myself.

Yeah I don’t write as many comments as I should and then I wonder why people don’t comment on mine. I think the bloggers still read the hundreds of comments but I think my green eyed monster comes out a little and I feel (rather unkindly) that I don’t want to add to their alreay obvious success. That’s so bad of me right?? :(

  6. I definitely don’t get 300 comments, but I do read them all. I try to respond to them via email, but even that’s hard sometimes. As for commenting on other blogs, I think it depends. Some blogs I’ve been following forever and really admire, so I will usually leave some love no matter how many comments… and others it depends on the post for the day. If I really want to chime in and leave my thought, then I will… and hopefully they’ll see it! ;)

I should probably look at it from the standpoint of supporting the blogs even if they don’t get a chance to read the comments. I’ve always looked at blogging as a social network of sorts, but I’d appreciate the comments in support of my blog if it were me in that situation. Even if I didn’t get to read them all (which I do read them all =)

  8. oh my gosh I totally agree! over like 30 and there’s pretty much no way I’d comment, like I’d love to but it’ll just get lost in a sea of comments! :) haha I thought I was the only one!

You should still go ahead and comment…just make sure that your blog name or a link to your blog is in there…that way when others read the comments, you get some visibility, and your comment could generate enough interest to make someone want to visit your blog! And, I’m sure the blogger would feel loved whether it’s comment #30 or 300…

I totally agree with you on that one. Unless its Rockstar Diaries, I don’t leave a comment if there is more than 20.

Hmm. It’s a good question. I never really thought of it like that. I know I always read my comments, then again. I’ve never been anywhere near 300 comments. Occasionally I’ll get above 10 or something. I would like to think that no matter how many I get I would respond or at least read it.

I’ve never thought about it ! The only thing I’ve never seen so many comments on a blog I guess, and don’t pay too much attention to it. BUT I have specifically stopped leaving comments on certain blogs if they have never ever responded back or come to visit me. Because for me, it’s about community and connecting, and I want to spend my time wisely and in a godly way, and to me that’s about relating and building community, so I won’t even read certain blogs either because of that, so many are just too worldly and they make my spirit downcast.
