So a sweet reader asked recently if I had any info about our trip we made to London. I remembered I made a map on Google while mapping out our itinerary. When I visited it again it rekindled my love of planning the trip and thought I’d share it with you. It was such a useful tool. I know a few people traveling in the next few months so I hope this helps.

On google maps you can create different maps. On mine I called it U.K. Trip (London & Scotland). To visit our map click HERE (zoom into the map to see more details). What I did was after I initially set up my map, I searched in the search box for certain locations I was sure I wanted to see like London Eye, Big Ben, etc. The location pops up on the map and you can see other peoples comments and ratings  on the location. This feature was particularly helpful when searching for Bed & Breakfasts because of the ratings.

The neat thing is once you find the location on the map, you then click “save to map” and it saves it to your map you made. You can add comments, pictures, pick the color of your “push pin”, and add links. It’s SO COOL. It keeps you organized and you can send it to family and friends while you are out of town.

  1. What a fun trip! My husband and I were super close to taking a backpacking trip through Europe before we graduated but we never did make it there. I’m wishing we would have just done it…now that we have almost 2 kids I’m not sure when we will get the chance :(

Thanks for the helpful map tips though, I’m sure they will come in handy someday!

Oh my gosh, thank you so much! I had never heard of google maps before and had no idea you could actually use it to find places. This post was sooo helpful. Now I don’t have to use my map and compass when I go places. Thanks bunches.
